Bathgate footballer Kirstie McIntosh suffers late heartbreak as Scotland lose injury-time goal to France

Bathgate footballer Kirstie McIntosh suffered late agony on Tuesday night as Scotland lost to an injury-time goal against France in the women’s under-19 European Championship opener in Paisley.

Hamilton Accies midfielder Kirstie (18) was in the starting line-up for the Scots who gave a great account of themselves against one of the favourites for the competition.

Paris St-Germain winger Sandy Baltimore gave the French the lead when a miss-hit cross went in off the back post while Scotland looked good for a point as Emma Craig levelled things up with nine minutes left.

It would be late heartbreak for the hosts, though, as Naomie Feller fired high past Sophie Allison in injury-time for the winner.

Scotland next face Norway on Friday before taking on The Netherlands on Monday.
