Bath’s Champions Cup match at Toulon set for new year, says Mike Ford

Bath’s postponed European Champions Cup match against Toulon at Stade Mayol is set to be played early in the new year.

The tournament organisers have yet to announce when any of the Champions Cup matches that were called off in France last weekend because of the terrorist attacks in Paris will be in played; only that they will be.

There were fears that the match in Toulon would not be played at all because of the lack of slack in the Premiership’s fixture schedule in a season already affected by England’s hosting of the Rugby World Cup – though Mourad Boudjellal, Toulon’s president, suggested it could take place during the Six Nations – but the Bath head coach, Mike Ford, said after Saturday’s victory over Leinster: “It will definitely be played; but not in the two league rounds coming up or the Christmas period. Early January is the most likely and there is no question of it not going ahead.”
