Batemans Bay Mini Golf forced to close for new development

Batemans Bay Mini Golf has announced the final round will be played next month after the business was forced to close to make way for a controversial new development.

The popular pastime will shut down after September 6 as the Eurobodalla Shire Council gave the business until September 17 to vacate the premises to allow for construction of the Indoor Aquatic and Regional Arts Centre.

The business broke the news via a Facebook post on Thursday, thanking loyal customers and flagging the future was unclear.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our valued customers and advise that our intentions to relocate in the immediate future are unclear at this stage; although several sites are being investigated," it read.

"We can all agree that this year has been an ordeal for everyone for various reasons. We will be taking this opportunity to spend some time together as a family while we assess our prospects for relocation."

The forced exit of Batemans Bay mini golf will allow construction of the new Indoor Aquatic and Regional Arts Centre at Mackay Park to begin.

The $58 million project, which drew strong opposition from the community, will replace the existing 50-metre outdoor pool with an indoor facility and arts centre.

This will include a 25-metre pool and 10-metre warm water pool, and the cultural centre will have capacity for 350 seats.

Batemans Bay Mini Golf welcomed players for a last round on September 6.

"We encourage anyone who would like to have "one last round" to come along with friends and family and make the most of the course while we are still here."
