Bastian Schweinsteiger reveals his lasting Manchester United memory

Bastian Schweinsteiger says he will never forget the level of support he received from fans during his time at Manchester United.

The German legend spent two years at Old Trafford after being signed by Louis van Gaal during his final year in charge of the club, before falling out of favour under his replacement Jose Mourinho.

Schweinsteiger was limited to just 35 appearances in his two years at United but is still fondly remembered by many fans for his attitude while at the club.

The 35-year-old remains the only German to have ever featured in a competitive match for United and it seems he remembers his time at club fondly, even if it did end in disappointment.

Schweinsteiger took part in a Instagram Q&A session on Friday in which he fielded a number of questions about his career in football as well as his plans for the future.

When asked what he loved most about his time at United, the World Cup winner replied: "Especially the fans. I will always keep in special memory!" along with a collage of pictures from his time at the club.

That wasn't the only United reference Schweinsteiger had either. When asked to name the player he looked up to when playing as a kid he replied: "Eric Cantona was one of my childhood idols. Great footballer."
