Bastar girls clinch six medals, including five gold, at National Mixed Martial Arts competition

RAIPUR: Girls from tribal Bastar clinched six medals, including five gold, at the 6th National Mixed Martial Arts Competition held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, from May 17 to 21. The medal holders arrived to a rousing welcome at Jagdalpur, the divisional headquarters of Bastar, on Wednesday.

International player Palak Nag emerged victorious, winning the gold medal in the senior category. Mahi Dongre clinching the gold medal in the Youth C 57kg category, Yejin Shreya Suna won gold in the Youth C 44kg category, Tanupriya Datta bagged the gold in the Youth B 44kg category, Shriya Sharma bagged gold in the semi-contact Bottom Weight category, and Mahi Meshram bagged bronze medal in the Youth A 52kg category.

All of these girls hone their skills at the Bastar Martial Arts Academy and they have displayed their remarkable talent in the Mixed Martial Art competition for the second consecutive year.

The players who have won the gold medals will represent the country in the upcoming international competition. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) national president Sharif Bapu, joint secretary and Chhattisgarh MMA Association secretary Nitin Singh congratulated the victorious players.
