NEW DELHI: Former Australian cricketer Ian Healy has cautioned cricket teams to remain watchful of team discipline following the BCCI's introduction of a strict 10-point code of conduct for players. This comes after India's 1-3 defeat to Australia in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Healy, speaking on SEN Radio, interpreted the BCCI's actions as an acknowledgment of disciplinary issues within the Indian team.

"The reshaping of Indian cricket. A strict, strong response from Indian cricket authorities basically admitting they have let discipline of their national team slip badly," Healy remarked.

The new guidelines require players to attend full practice sessions, travel together, and limit time spent with families during tours. Healy expressed surprise at the duration for which these issues went unaddressed.
"It made for extraordinary reading that the following issues could go unapproved for so long," Healy said, referencing reports of players traveling separately with families and using personal vehicles to commute to matches.
"Maybe administrators and players have disrespected the dream of representing a powerhouse of the sport. Australia - plus other countries - be aware as to how far things can get off the rails without noticing the effects. Stay vigilant. Take all that into the contest."
The BCCI has also restricted access to team facilities, prohibiting personal managers or assistants of players and support staff from staying at team hotels. This follows criticism regarding support staff's personal managers being allowed in team hotels and hospitality boxes meant for selectors.
