Sudan’s ex-president Omar al-Bashir, who has been charged with corruption-related offenses, is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
Last month, Bashir was charged with illicit possession of foreign currency and accepting gifts in an unofficial manner.
The military overthrew and detained Bashir on April 11 after 16 weeks of street protests against his rule.
The head of the ruling military council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, had earlier said that a large hoard of cash in euros, dollars and Sudanese pounds had been found at Bashir’ home.
Sources said that there were suitcases loaded with more than $351,000, €7 million and five billion Sudanese pounds .
Bashir is expected to face another trial in a lawsuit filed against him by several lawyers accusing him of carrying out a military coup that ousted an elected government and brought him to power in June 1989.
