Basford United chairman donates to emergency fund created to help unpaid Notts County staff

Basford United chairman Chris Munroe has donated to an emergency fund designed to help Notts County’s non-playing staff who are still yet to be paid.

Magpies staff were due their salaries last Friday and are so far yet to receive payment for the money they are owed.

Notts County Football Club Official Supporters’ Association has stepped in to help those affected with several staff making use of the fund that was created earlier this week.

Now Munroe has given his support to the cause as donations continue to be pledged from supporters with a healthy contribution  also coming from the NCFCOSA.

They fans’ group thanked Munroe for his  help at a time when the club’s staff are being hit hard in the pocket.

A post on their Twitter account read: “NCFCOSA greatly appreciate the donation from Basford United and  Chris Munroe, to the fund which is aiding Notts County non-playing staff.”

On Monday, Notts chairman Alan Hardy said he “deeply regrets” not being able to fulfil his salary obligations but hoped to liaise with the prospective new owners to rectify the situation.

The Professional Footballers' Association are on standby to help the players as the financial problems at Notts continue to bite.

The NCFCOSA are still inviting donations to help staff in the meantime while they continue to make their own financial commitment to the cause.

All donations will be recorded by donor and amount, meaning that if staff are paid, monies may be handed back or, with consent, retained for future emergency use.

For full information on how to donate, details can be found  at www.ncfcosa.co.uk.

You can also follow them on Twitter @ncfcosa or via their Facebook group.
