Barty party rolls into Open fourth round

Ash Barty has moved into the fourth round of the Open with a 6-2 6-4 win over Ekaterina Alexandrova. (AAP)

Ash Barty has moved comfortably into the fourth round of the Australian Open with a straight-sets win over Ekaterina Alexandrova.

The No.1 seed had far too much court craft for the Russian, at one stage going on a run of seven consecutive games before closing out a 6-2 6-4 result.

She will now take on the winner of Anett Kontaveit and Shelby Rogers for a place in the quarter-finals.
