Ashleigh Barty has reached the third round of the Australian Open for the second consecutive year following a gritty three-set victory over Camila Giorgi on Rod Laver Arena.
The 18th seed Barty booked a spot in the last 32 with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 triumph over the Italian Giorgi in an contest lasting just over two hours.
Barty, the last remaining Australian in the women's draw, secured a double break in the third and deciding set to open up a 4-0 lead before closing the match out with her 12th ace of the evening.
The 21-year-old from Ipswich will meet Japan's Naomi Osaka in the third round.
