Barry's Amusements 'could reopen as new leaseholder found'

Barry's Amusements could be set to reopen as reports suggest a new leaseholder has been confirmed.

The popular Portrush attraction was first opened in 1926 by the Trufelli family and welcomed many generations through its doors.

Located along the pier in Portrush, Barry’s was widely recognised as Northern Ireland’s largest and longest running amusement park.

Last September, the family confirmed the Barry’s property had been sold and the business was set to close.

Estate agents Osborne King acting on behalf of the purchaser, were instructed to secure a tenant for the prime leisure and entertainment venue.

It was marketed as a "unique leisure and entertainment opportunity".

On Saturday, it was reported an Irish 'fun park' company are the new leaseholders of the Barry’s complex.

When approached by Belfast Live, the company confirmed a press release would be issued next week.

No further details have been released but it was reported opening dates will be announced next week.
