Barry Keoghan tipped to play Shane MacGowan in upcoming bio-pic about Pogues legend

Ex-Love/Hate star Barry Keoghan will reportedly play Shane MacGowan in an upcoming bio-pic about the Pogues legend.

MacGowan has given the move his blessing and has expressed his admiration for Keoghan's abilities.

He said: “Barry is a marvellous actor and I couldn’t think of anyone better to do it."

Speaking to the Irish Sun, he added: “He’ll do a great job.”

Victoria Mary Clarke - who married MacGowan last year added further substance to the rumours after Twitter user suggested that Keoghan should play Bob Dylan in a movie.

Quoting the tweet, she replied: "Maybe @BarryKeoghan will be playing another living legend soon!!!”

The Dubliner followed up be liking the post.

Just last month it was revealed that Keoghan had landed his 'dream role' in upcoming Marvel flick The Eternals.

He will join a star-studded cast, which includes Game Of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Richard Madden, as well as Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek.

The 26-year-old will take on the role of the superhuman Druig.

Keoghan has also starred in the Oscar-winning Dunkirk as well as American Animals and Black ‘47.
