Barry Hepburn completes Bayern Munich switch as Celtic youngster accepts German challenge

Bayern Munich have officially confirmed the signing of Celtic youngster Barry Hepburn.

The 16-year-old winger has been linked with a move to Bavaria for some time, and will join the German giants' academy.

Bayern campus director Jochen Sauer said: "We are very happy that the transfer of Barry has gone through.

"He is an attacking player with a lot of potential that we want to help with his further development."

Hepburn will join fellow Celtic youth product Liam Morrison in Munich.

The centre-back moved to Bayern last summer and is currently working with Martin Demichelis' Under-19 team.

The Bundesliga champions keep a close eye on the Scottish market and have also given Hearts youngster Aaron Hickey a tour of their facilities.

Owner Ann Budge confirmed an official offer for the left-back has arrived for the left-back, but Record Sport understands that's Bologna.

She said: "Despite all the names thrown about, the club has only had one approach.

"That was on Tuesday of this week.

"I have gone back to them with a couple of questions so it is basically still being discussed.

“It's not a million miles away. It's pretty close. It was from Europe."
