Barry from EastEnders is begging Emmerdale bosses for a part in the ITV soap

An EastEnders legend is begging Emmerdale bosses to sign him up for the ITV soap.

Shaun Williamson, 55, better known to most as Barry from EastEnders, has he eye on a part in the Yorkshire show. The star is soon to appear on our screens in MTV’s reality TV show Celebs On The Farm and he thinks it would be perfect preparation for a stint in Emmerdale.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I love Coronation Street and Emmerdale. I've really got a soft spot for Emmerdale, I'd love to go up there.

"Occasionally, they have a Cockney character through for a few months, so I'd love to be in Emmerdale I think.

"And, after my experience on a farm doing this show I reckon I could go in and give their farmers a run for their money."

In the MTV reality TV show, the celebs care for the animals, driving tractors, take on sheep herding and will be mucking out the stables. Shaun is appearing alongside Duncan James, Montana Brown and Holly Hagan.

He played Barry in EastEnders from 1994 to 2004 before his character was bumped off by wife Janine. It is one of the soap’s most famous storylines and attracted 15 million viewers when it aired.

We’ll let you know if Shaun’s Emmerdale dream comes true.
