Barry Ferguson sends Rangers star Sheyi Ojo no-nonsense message over 'best in Scotland' boast

Barry Ferguson has sent a clear message to Sheyi Ojo after he claimed Rangers are the best team in Scotland.

The Liverpool loanee boasted that the Ibrox side were top dogs in the country at the start of the season.

Celtic dropped points on Saturday after a 1-1 draw with Hibs , before Rangers closed the gap in the league table to a point later that afternoon with a 5-0 drubbing of Aberdeen.

And, after the dominant result, Ojo refused to back down from the comments he made last month.

He said: "I stand by what I said and I think Rangers are on a good run of form. We are doing really well so far this season and we are looking hungry.

“It can only be a positive for any team that looks hungry and is getting wins. Of course we have to give Celtic respect but, from my own opinion, I believe we can have a really successful season."

However, Ibrox hero and Record Sport columnist Ferguson wasn't happy with the winger and has urged Ojo to keep these comments to himself.

He told PLZ Soccer : "It's clear confidence is high, but keep it in house. That would be my message.

"I'd probably say another few things that I can't repeat.

"I like confidence in players, but when players start coming out and saying things, I don't like it.

"I never enjoyed it myself when I was playing and we spoke about it a lot as a team.

"If we're doing well, we'll just go about our business quietly and I prefer when players do that."
