Concerned Barry Ferguson has called for Rangers to sell on Glen Kamara this summer as a new contract offer remains unsigned.
The midfielder - who has two years left on his current deal - has held talks with the club about extending his deal at Ibrox.
However, wary Ferguson has warned his former club that they can't let the Finland cap enter the final year of his deal.
The topic of the 25-year-old's future with the Premiership champions was sparked after reports in Germany claimed Steven Gerrard was keen to add German starlet Salih Ozcan to his ranks.
With the move potentially adding another midfielder to the packed squad, pundit Davie Provan admitted on the Go Radio Football Show he could see Kamara leaving the club.
Ferguson responded: "You took the name right out of my mouth there.
"Kamara will be going into the final 12 months of his contract and has already been offered a new contract.
"You don't want players going into the final 12 months.
"That (Salih Ozcan link) could be a sign that Glen Kamara might not be committing to Rangers, hence the fact that this guy has been mentioned with a move.
"I don't know too much about him. He's playing a decent club, Koln, but going back to it it looks like Glen Kamara won't be extending his contract and if not you need to go and cash in, and bring in another midfielder."
