Barry Ferguson sends 'in house' Rangers message to James Tavernier over Celtic comments

Barry Ferguson has responded to James Tavernier's Celtic comments as he urged him to keep these things 'in house'.

Michael Beale and Ange Postecoglou are set to lock horns THREE times in the final weeks of the campaign starting with a Premiership meeting in a matter of weeks. Focus then turns to the Scottish Cup semi-final showdown at the end of April at Hampden before a final meeting between the pair when the league split fixtures are released.

Celtic won the League Cup Final meeting between the Old Firm rivals at the national stadium last month with Kyogo Furuhashi the hero on the day. Skipper Tavernier has called on his troops to bounce back from that defeat and show the 'real Rangers'. Asked if Celtic will see a different Gers next month, he said: “We have to (improve) because we knew the performance in the final wasn’t good enough from our point of view. There is way more to give from us. So, yeah, definitely.”

Ibrox hero Ferguson says in the build up to games he would go through the papers and press to see if anyone had said anything that would fire up the team. That could be the case with Celtic skipper Callum McGregor come April. He told the Go Radio Football Show: "I would rather these things are kept in house.

"The way I would go about it is I would try to be respectful. If I was thinking about the cup final, and trying to redeem ourselves, I would just keep it behind closed doors.

"I would just wait until April 8 and make sure to produce a performance to come away from Celtic Park with something. That week leading up to the game you used to go through the papers and look to see if anyone had said anything from the Celtic point of view that would rile you up a wee bit.

"You would be right into the dressing room and say 'he has just said this' to fire you up a wee bit. Sometimes you have got to play it down and do your talking on the pitch when that whistle goes."
