Barry Ferguson reveals his Celtic shock as he takes issue with Neil Lennon's 'strange comment'

Surprised Barry Ferguson admits Neil Lennon's concession that Ten In A Row is almost beyond his Celtic team has caught him on the hop.

The Rangers legend has been a vocal supporter of the Hoops boss amid a nightmare season for the current Premiership champions.

And the Record Sport pundit once again backed his former rival over his fierce response to critics of Celtic 's controversial trip to Dubai.

But the Kelty Hearts boss admits he's been left perplexed by Lennon's concession that the title "maybe beyond" his team.

Many observers have believe Steven Gerrard's side can only lose it from here due to their 21-point advantage but Ferguson was taken aback by the 49-year-old's admission.

Speaking on Go Radio, he said: "I'm surprised, 'maybe beyond them', I wouldn't expect that.

"Maybe 'we'll keep fighting but it will be tough'. It's a strange comment from the manager."

And Ferguson also believes Lennon will fully aware of growing speculation surrounding his own position after claiming there was a "blood lust" to see him sacked.

He added: "Neil will know the situation, he's been a player, he's been a captain of the club before, he's been successful at it.

"He knows when things are not going right, people are going to call for his head, that's the nature of the beast."
