Stand-in skipper Nico Raskin has been branded "disrespectful" after a recent flashpoint at Ibrox.
This comes after he appeared to keep hold of the Rangers captain's armband when club captain Lawrence Shankland entered the fray against St Mirren.
The Belgian midfielder led Rangers out for their 5-1 Premier Sports Cup win but did not pass the armband to Shankland after the striker came off the bench in the 63rd minute.
Former Celtic midfielder Charlie Mulgrew raised the moment during a Go Radio discussion with ex-Rangers captain Barry Ferguson, who admitted he would have handed it over. Ferguson said: "That is something you see quite a lot, don’t you? The captain comes on and gets the armband.
"If I am there, I would have given him the armband, if I am being honest with you."
Mulgrew agreed, insisting players would normally feel compelled to give the armband to the club captain. He said: "If I am on the pitch, you are almost a bit embarrassed when the captain comes on the pitch. You are like, ‘Right, take that.’

New Rangers star insists he won't be 'shy' after eye-catching Ibrox debut
"I don’t know why he never gave it to him. It’s interesting. Maybe he feels he should be captain?"
Ferguson added: "Lawrence is club captain. I came on for a couple of cup games where I wasn’t playing, and when I came on I got the armband. It’s a good point."
Host Paul Cooney described the incident as "disrespectful", although Ferguson stopped short of going that far.
He said: "I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it’s disrespectful, but it is the norm to pass it on if the captain is on the bench and he makes an appearance on the field."
Mulgrew believes the moment could hint at an unclear leadership situation within the Ibrox squad. He said: "Any captain I have played under, or if I have been captain, there has been that respect there where you know the armband gets handed over, and there is no grey area there.
"I just feel like there is a bit of a grey area at Rangers."
