Barry Ferguson predicts Rangers transfer turnover as he discusses Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent futures

Barry Ferguson is delighted Rangers weren't forced into player sales this summer.

But the Ibrox hero reckons it's only a matter of time before Steven Gerrard's squad is due for a refresh.

Despite plenty of transfer speculation surrounding Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and others, Rangers made no significant sales before the transfer deadline.

The likes of Nikola Katic and Cedric Itten were sent out on loan, but the priority was strengthening as they get set to defend their title.

And Rangers added the likes of Fashion Sakala, John Lundstram and Juninho Bacuna to their ranks.

Alloa boss Ferguson reckons it's a sign of strength that they didn't have to sell - but he reckons it's only realistic that they will do so eventually.

He said on Go Radio: "Rangers would have sold if they had to.

"Stewart Robertson has said that they will need to sell, that is the structure going forward, with one or two assets.

"With Douglas Park, they have a real top businessman in charge, and if they were desperate they would sell.

"That tells me that they ain't, and that they are still getting enough money coming in from the Europa League.

"Also, with the games are going to be at home they are making enough money.

"It will be a bit different next summer, even if they do make it into the Champions League. You will see maybe one or two go; there will be a slight turnover in players."

He's also relieved the window is now closed so Rangers' stars can focus on the football.

Ferguson added: "I think the noise that has been going about the likes of Morelos, Kent; now these guys can now focus."
