Barry Ferguson predicts Celtic will go unbeaten for the rest of the season as Rangers legend pinpoints attractive 'new formula'

Barry Ferguson reckons Celtic won't drop any more points in the title race as he tipped them to bounce back from a poor first half of the season.

The former Rangers captain watched as Neil Lennon's side harried and pressed the life out of his beloved team despite a 1-0 defeat at Ibrox on Saturday.

Ferguson admits the new diamond midfield shape at the heart of their recent turnaround makes Celtic look much better equipped for the title race.

David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro have come out of nowhere to become mainstays in the new set-up and have rewarded their manager with excellent displays.

And Record Sport columnist Ferguson fells the feel-good factor from their performance will manifest in vastly improved results.

He told Go Radio: "If Rangers can come through this month of January unscathed they will be in pole position to get the title.

"On the other hand, I don't think Celtic will drop any more points. I do. I honestly think they will have got so much confidence from that performance (against Rangers) with the new players coming in and a new formation.

"He's found a new formula that looks very good on the eye. I think that's the best I have seen Celtic play.

"It's up to the manager and the experienced guys there to say 'we can compete and put one over on Rangers in terms of performance' and you saw that in the first 60 minutes.

'The only thing that Celtic couldn't do and that was down to one guy, Allan McGregor who made some fantastic saves.

"The ball is in Rangers court, of course it is, but this is a massive month and it's not something Rangers have been used to."
