Barry Ferguson lets rip on Rangers critics as he insists win over Celtic should 'shut people up'

Delighted Barry Ferguson insists Rangers have put their critics in their place after firing down Celtic.

After a week hampered by Covid issues, Gary McAllister led the team to a 1-0 win thanks to Filip Helander 's second half header in the absence of Steven Gerrard.

It deals an early reminder to Celtic and their Premiership title hopes this season following the positive signs early in the Ange Postecoglou era.

Former Ibrox skipper reckons that the champions have responded to doubts over playing in front of fans after some disappointing outings so far this term.

He believes the result over their rivals could be key going into the international break.

Ferguson told the Go Radio Football Show: “I believe that there was a lot of noise saying can Rangers handle playing in front of fans.

"Well, they proved it today.

“It wasn’t a perfect performance, but the second half was a lot stronger, an they got the vital three points.

“So, they’ve shut a lot of people up for me.”
