Barry Ferguson labels Celtic's swashbuckling football 'the best I've seen in a long time'

Rangers icon Barry Ferguson admits he couldn't help but be impressed by Celtic's all-action display in their 3-2 win over Hearts on Sunday.

The narrow scoreline in the Premier Sports Cup last 16 clash didn't reflect a contest in which the home side dominated - especially in the opening 45 minutes where they had the Jambos camped inside their own box.

And Ferguson was quick to namecheck the strike trio of Kyogo Furuhashi, Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest who caused Robbie Neilson's side strife from the first minute.

Boss Ange Postecoglou was also effusive in his praise at the final whistle as the Australian secured a fourth consecutive win in all competitions.

The Record Sport pundit also had kind words for Callum McGregor as he masterminded another performance played at warp speed in front of their home supporters.

Speaking to Go Radio Ferguson said: "It could have been anything in the first half. They were so impressive, it was waves of attack and when Celtic lost the ball it was the determination to get it back really quickly.

"Some great football as well, some really good performances, I thought Callum McGregor in the middle of pitch was excellent.

"There was a number of good performances, but the first half performance by Celtic is the best I've seen in a long, long time.

"Furuhashi on the left hand side, Forrest on the right and obviously Edouard through the middle and the three of them combined really well.

"Edouard's goal, it was a great ball through from Furuhashi, that was a fantastic team goal, some real good movement but, in fairness, for the first 45 minutes, Celtic were really impressive."
