Barry Ferguson insists Celtic penalty against Hearts was 'harsh'

Rangers hero Barry Ferguson reckons he would be "going off his head" if Celtic's recent penalty at Tynecastle Hearts was given against him.

Alex Cochrane was judged to have fouled Kyogo Furuhashi and referee Nick Walsh pointed straight to the pot.

VAR did review the decision but the whistler was not advised to take a look at the monitor and Ferguson feels it was not a spot kick.

Speaking on Go Radio, he said: "Listen, Kyogo knows what he's doing. There is no doubt about it. I think it's so soft. Technically it a penalty because there is contact in the box, but I think it's harsh.

"If it's given against me, I'm going off my head, to be honest. I would be."

Meanwhile, Celtic hero Scott Brown has paid tribute to Darnel Fisher after the defender announced his retirement from football.

The 29-year-old came through the Parkhead youth ranks before going on to make over 20 appearances for the Hoops under the leadership of Neil Lennon and Ronny Deila.

Fisher also enjoyed a successful loan spell at St Johnstone where he made 23 games under Tommy Wright before he opted to move south to Rotherham.

He spent a season with United in the Championship before switching to Preston North End, for whom he would play 177 times.
