Barry Ferguson in Celtic 'bring it on' battle cry as Alloa boss forgets league struggles ahead of cup clash

Confident Barry Ferguson is relishing facing off against Celtic in the Scottish Cup with League One outfit Alloa, despite their league struggles.

The Wasps have still to find top form this season in the third tier as they hover dangerously close to the drop zone.

Following the 1-1 draw with Queen's Park, the club are one point above the relegation playoff spot and without a win in their last nine league games.

But Rangers legend Ferguson has welcomed the challenge of facing Ange Postecoglou 's side on Saturday.

Speaking to Clyde 1 Superscoreboard he said: "It's brilliant for the club.

"Celtic are a fantastic team with fantastic players, so it's an opportunity for us to come against them, and you never know.

"Listen, it's the Scottish Cup, anything can happen. We just hope we do ourselves proud and I'm sure the guys will be right up for it at training.

"And bring it on, live on TV as well, so it's a brilliant opportunity for the boys to show what they can do."

Despite a disappointing campaign so far, Ferguson was confident his side can make the promotion playoff places with a January recruitment drive.

"We've lost a few players, and I need to go and try and get a few players in.

"I've been trying to do that over the last couple of weeks.

"No doubt we have good quality, but we just need to add to that.

"It's a pretty tight league, we just need to make sure we get ourselves into the playoff position. There is a lot of games to be played.

"If we continue that sort of performance that we gave in the second half we will certainly start getting more points on the board."
