Barry Ferguson says he's disappointed Rangers or Celtic didn't move for Lyndon Dykes prior to his move for QPR.
And he's doubled down on his previous stance that Dykes would be a solid addition for his old club.
Dykes has been one of Scottish footballl's most heartwarming success stories in recent years.
As recently as January 2019, the Aussie-born hitman was running out in the Championship for Queen of the South, but he's since jumped from Livingston to QPR and is now a fan favourite at Loftus Road.
He's also one of the first names on Steve Clarke 's team-sheets and just became the first Scotland player to score in four successive internationals since 1968.
Ferguson, speaking on Go Radio, says he's "disappointed" neither Rangers or Celtic were able to keep Dykes in Scotland after he left Livingston last summer.
He said: "I'm disappointed Rangers or Celtic didn't go for him. I'd have liked him to stay up here.
"What did he go for, just over £1m? I'd have liked to see him stay in Scotland.
"Maybe Rangers or Celtic made contact, I don't know.
"He's started the season well down there though, so if he keeps his form up, you never know."
Ferguson spoke about Dykes prior to his move to QPR when he urged his old club to move in and snap him up as an alternative to Alfredo Morelos.
He said last June: "(Gerrard) needs somebody up front, different from Morelos and Defoe.
"I know Lyndon Dykes has been spoken about the last couple of days, I do think he would be a good signing for Rangers."
