Barry Ferguson calls on Rangers to sell Glen Kamara if a new deal can't be agreed

Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has called on his former club to part ways with Glen Kamara - if both parties fail to agree terms over a new contract.

Ferguson knows what it takes to succeed as a midfielder at Ibrox, and the ex-Scotland skipper has been impressed by Kamara's displays for Steven Gerrard 's side since joining from Dundee in January 2019.

The 25-year-old has cemented himself as a key player for the Gers after a string of classy performances against the likes of Porto, Braga, Feyenoord and Celtic, and his current contract is due to expire in 2023.

However, Ferguson reckons new terms need to be agreed soon - or it might be wiser to cash-in on the former Arsenal youth team star.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Ferguson said: "Kamara will be going into the final 12 months of his contract and has already been offered a new contract.

"You don't want players going into the final 12 months.

"That (Salih Ozcan link) could be a sign that Glen Kamara might not be committing to Rangers, hence the fact that this guy has been mentioned with a move.

"I don't know too much about him. He's playing a decent club, Koln, but going back to it it looks like Glen Kamara won't be extending his contract and if not you need to go and cash in, and bring in another midfielder."
