Barry Ferguson expressed disappointment following Rangers' 1-1 draw with Celtic in the final Old Firm clash of the Scottish Premiership season, despite his side producing the kind of performance he expects from a Rangers team.
Cyriel Dessers fired Rangers into the lead just before the break with a well-taken effort, but Adam Idah’s equaliser on 57 minutes—after a VAR review overturned an offside decision—earned Celtic a share of the spoils.
The result means Rangers have gone unbeaten against Celtic in 2025, with two wins and a draw in the three derbies played. However, Ferguson’s side still sits 17 points behind Celtic, who have already wrapped up the league title with three matches remaining.
Despite the frustration of not securing all three points, Ferguson was upbeat about his squad's effort.

Speaking to Rangers TV after the match, he said: “Disappointed to just take a point. I think if you look at the game overall, we definitely deserved to get the three points. I just spoke to the boys there, and in terms of effort and commitment, it was there—that’s what I always expect from my team.”
He added: “It was just that bit of quality and final pass or that final attempt on goal, we need to sharpen up on. But look, again, I asked them for a full-blooded, committed performance, and they certainly gave me that.”
Ferguson also noted that Rangers could have sealed the win with a couple of additional goals.
“I think the only thing is, if you look at the game, we should score another couple of goals. It’s a good thing to be disappointed, that’s what I want them to be," he admitted.
And the Rangers interim manager ended by urging his team to focus on the positives as they prepare for their next fixture at home to Aberdeen in a week's time.
