Barry Douglas has congratulated Niall Huggins on his new Leeds United contract.
The versatile young player has put pen to paper on a new contract that will kee him at the Whites until 2023, having recently been included in the travelling party for the first-team's 1-0 win over Everton last weekend.
It was the latest step towards first-team football for the 19-year-old, who came through the Whites' academy after joining at just six years old.
He has produced a string of impressive performances for Leeds' under-23 side that has clearly caught the attention of senior players at Elland Road.
Douglas, on loan at Blackburn Rovers, messaged Huggins on Instagram after the news.
He commented: "Go on the boy" with an arm flexing and fire emoji.
Huggins has agreed the new deal after a recent switch to left-back, despite playing as a forward in the Whites' under-18s set-up.
It could well see the Wales youth international in line to eventually replace Douglas, who is expected to depart Elland Road when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Huggins signed his first-ever professional deal with Leeds last year and, with that set to have expired in the summer, he has now agreed a new contract.
The academy product has so far made six appearances for Leeds' under-23s this season, helping them to third place in Premier League 2 Division 2.
He has also been capped at under-21 level for Wales.
His most recent senior recognition came at the weekend when he travelled with the Leeds first-team to Goodison Park for the 1-0 win over Everton.
Leeds legend-turned-agent Ian Harte praised the experience the youngster would have got from the day.
He said: "Fantastic experience for Niall Huggins, travelling with the first-team for the win v Everton."
