Barry Douglas provides Leeds United fitness boost with Thorp Arch update

Leeds United defender Barry Douglas is wasting no time in preparing himself for the 2019/20 season after he posted an image on social media showing him returning to Thorp Arch.

The Scotland left-back endured something of an injury-blighted first campaign with the Whites and missed the final two months of the Championship season thanks to a ruptured knee ligament.

However, the 29-year-old is clearly already preparing to push on back to full fitness ahead of the summer after it was confirmed head coach Marcelo Bielsa would remain at the club as they look to push for promotion once again.

Now, the latest online missive revealed by Douglas all but confirms his preparations are underway for a return to Elland Road in time for the start of the season.

Having been previously holidaying in Dubai since the abrupt end to United's season in the play-offs, Douglas has since posted on his Instagram story to show he has returned to the Leeds training facility.

News of his return to rehabilitation ahead of another crunch campaign will surely delight Whites supporters, particularly after his absence was felt throughout the rest of the season.

Having not played since the 3-2 win in late March against Millwall, where he was forced to play through his injury, the former Wolves man was forced to miss out for the remainder of 2018/19 after initially playing a key part in the club's charge for the summit.

Leeds only subsequently won two of their final seven league games, while his presence was sorely missed in the 4-2 play-off defeat to Derby County earlier this month.
