Barry Douglas in Rangers transfer admission as Leeds United exit opens the door to Scotland return

Out of contract Barry Douglas has opened the door for a move to Rangers following his Leeds United exit.

The Scotland cap is out of contract at Elland Road having spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

The 31-year-old left Scotland after spells with Dundee United and Queen's Park in Scotland, making moves to Lech Poznan in Poland and Konyasport in Turkey.

He would eventually move to England and earned promotion with both Wolves and Leeds United, before being loaned back to the Championship by Marco Bielsa for the final year of his deal.

Left-back Douglas was keen to remain in England or move to the Scottish Premiership due to his family situation as he weighs up his options.

When asked about "noise" linking him with a move to Ibrox, he told the Yorkshire Evening Post he would be open to a move north of the border.

He said: "It depends what opportunities present themselves.

"As a family it would be a lot more difficult [to go abroad] now, we've got a newborn and a toddler, Kayden is three next month, obviously we need to take that into consideration now.

"But we'd definitely be open to trying something new and getting out of the comfort zone. If it's a new culture and a new language again absolutely. But if it's domestic, great.

"This is a great league, a tough league and it would be lovely to try to add a third promotion to the CV."
