Barrowlands 'condemn' Pete Doherty for 'throwing mic' and 'splitting fan's head' at gig

Badboy rocker Pete Doherty has been accused of splitting a fan’s head open at a gig after throwing a microphone stand into the audience.

Student Kieran Ward suffered a bloody head wound after allegedly being struck by the stand at the Libertines’ concert at Glasgow’s Barrowlands on Sunday.

Kieran needed immediate treatment from first aiders before being advised to go to hospital to get stitches in the wound.

He was left with an open gash and blood pouring down the right side of his head following the gig.

He posted a picture of the injury and told friends on Twitter: “When Pete Doherty throws a mic stand into the crowd at the @libertines gig in the barras on Sunday n it splits ur head open. We LOVE to see it.”

He also took a photo of a St Andrews First Aid report form following the accident.

It detailed that the cut to the head happened when the singer threw something off the stage and hit the casualty on the head.

It said that the first aid crew hadcleaned and dressed the wound and advised Kieran to go to hospital. Kieran was asked by one follower when the incident had happened. Kieran replied: “It was right near the end after Don’t Look Back into the Sun.”

He was urged by some fans to “lawyer up” and seek compensation from the singer.

Tom Joyce, general manager of Barrowland, condemned Doherty’s “irresponsible” on-stage behaviour.

He said: “I only found out about this on the Monday.

“If the boy is OK that’s good. It’s totally irresponsible.

“Personally, I condemn Pete Doherty’s behaviour. I’m not in favour of it and it would do him good to make contact with the guy and apologise for his behaviour.

“People should be able to come to the venue and feel safe.”
