Barron Trump misses out on family’s farewell to White House

Barron Trump, the only child of soon-to-be former President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump was not present as his parents left the White House for the last time.

The 14-year-old has been seen travelling with the first couple in the past but did not walk across the South Lawn to board Marine One on inauguration morning.

As President Trump has spent the last few days of his term in the West Wing raging about his election loss, Melania Trump has been busy mapping out her future, including finding a new school for Barron Trump in Florida, where the family will live now that they have left the White House.

Melania Trump recently visited a private school north of Miami, a possible option for Barron Trump’s future education, The Palm Beach Post reported.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported in mid-December that Barron Trump might start studying at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale.

Tuition at the school is $35,150 according to the New York Post’s Page Six, which first reported that Melania Trump toured the school.

The institution hosts children of many of South Florida’s elites, The Sun-Sentinel writes. The graduates, many from the area’s business and legal communities, often go on to attend prestigious universities.

In October, Melania Trump shared that Barron had contracted Covid but showed no symptoms of the disease. Both Donald Trump and the first lady tested positive for the virus earlier that same month.

“Luckily, he is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms,” Ms Trump said at the time, according to The New York Times.

“I don’t even think he knew he had it, because they’re young and their immune systems are strong and they fight it off," President Trump told supporters in Iowa during the campaign.

During the pandemic, Barron Trump has attended St Andrew’s Episcopal School in Maryland on a virtual basis.
