Barrister Sam Di Carlo charged with perjury

High-profile barrister Sam Di Carlo has been charged by Queensland's corruption body for allegedly lying during an investigative hearing.

The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has charged Di Carlo with two counts of perjury, possessing ammunition without authority and unlawful possession of restricted drugs.

The charges were laid last night, after CCC officers executed a search warrant at an address at Eight Mile Plains on Brisbane's southside.

Di Carlo came to prominence earlier this year after then-Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale was detained at Melbourne airport carrying $50,000 cash.

The barrister said he had asked Pisasale to collect the money for him interstate on behalf of a client.

Di Carlo is due to face court on September 14.

Queensland Bar Association president Christopher Hughes said the association would be investigating the circumstances surrounding the charges.

"It's a matter of great concern," he said.
