Barrhead Road incident: Woman rushed to hospital after being struck by car near Silverburn

A woman has been rushed to hospital after she was struck by a car near to Silverburn Shopping Centre earlier this evening.

Police were called to a report of a serious road crash involving a pedestrian and a car in Barrhead Road around 5:40pm.

Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Barrhead Road is currently closed between Boydstone Road and the Pollokshaws roundabout.

Traffic Scotland have said that traffic seems to be coping in the area following some earlier congestion after the exit at Junction 2 of the M77 (Southbound) was closed off to vehicles.

The incident saw the slip road off the M77 (Southbound) at Junction 2 closed to traffic for a period of time (Traffic Scotland)

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Around 5.40pm on Monday, 14 December, police were called to a report of a serious road crash involving a pedestrian and a car in Barrhead Road, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and a woman was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Barrhead Road is currently closed between Boydstone Road and the Pollokshaws Roundabout.

"Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 2484 of Monday, 14 December, 2020."
