Barrhead dad thanks public for donating over £20k to bring ill daughter home from Thailand

A Barrhead dad is thanking kind-hearted locals who have pledged money to help bring his ill daughter home from Thailand.

Rebekah Fulton, 25, has been stranded in a hospital on the island of Phuket, where she is fighting a serious viral infection in her brain, since April 8.

Dad James, flew out to south east Asia to be by his daughter's bedside and launched an online fundraiser in a desperate appeal for help from Glaswegians.

Now James has posted an update thanking everyone for raising over £21,000 of the £25K total, as he prepares to fly Rebekah home soon.

He said: "I think Rebekah is responding to the antiviral medication and tonight she has been moved from intensive care to a medical ward for her treatment to continue.

"I hope to have secured the services of a specialist medical company who are currently liaising with the hospital medical staff to establish whether a care plan for Rebekah’s repatriation to the UK can be agreed. At the moment this is will be conditional on the cost and results of the outstanding test which is taking time due to the nature of the test.

"I felt it necessary to start preparing as best I can to get Rebekah home and I am only able to do this due to everyone’s generosity, so again, I thank you all."
