Barnsley make move to keep hold of star player wanted by Bristol City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stoke City and Birmingham City

Barnsley have made their move to try and keep hold of Adam Davies.

The goalkeeper has been linked with Bristol City alongside a host of other clubs, including Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He is available on a free transfer this summer after helping the Tykes win promotion back to the Championship from League One - but he has now been offered a new contract to stay at Oakwell.

Alongside the Robins and Wolves, Stoke City, Birmingham City, Hull City and Brentford have all been credited with an interest in the Welshman, meaning there could be a lot of competition for his signature.

Crucially, as he is 26, the Tykes would not be entitled to compensation should their captain opt to move elsewhere.

The Robins are on the lookout for a goalkeeper after releasing both Frank Fielding and Stefan Marinovic this month.

Barnsley have also offered new contracts to Jake Greatorex and Ryan Hedges and have taken an option to extend Dimitri Cavaré's stay in South Yorkshire.

Lloyd Isgrove, Zeki Fryers and Adam Jackson have been released.
