Barlanark incident: Glasgow man rushed to hospital after 'shooting' in quiet cul-de-sac

A man was rushed to hospital last night following reports of a shooting in the east end.

Police and emergency services raced to Garlieston Road in Barlanark around 9pm last night after being alerted to reports of an injured man.

Local witnesses report that the man was shot with a handgun following an altercation in the cul-de-sac area involving a knife.

An off-duty paramedic is reported to have came to his aid prior to the arrival of ambulance crews. Armed police are also reported to have descended on the scene alongside a large number of police vehicles.

The 33-year-old was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. His present condition is unknown.

Police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing into the incident and are appealing for anyone with any information to make contact with them.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 9.25pm on Saturday, 25 September, police attended a report of man injured in Garlieston Road, Glasgow. The 33-year-old was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 3900 of 25 September.”
