A father-of-two has been repeatedly stabbed in an unprovoked murder attempt, CCTV released by police shows.
The 50-year-old was knifed 10 times after being approached from behind in Barking, east London, as he walked home alone from a night out.
Scotland Yard released the footage in an appeal for witnesses because officers are yet to arrest the knifeman, who struck on October 28.
The victim was attacked at around 9.45pm in Pelham Avenue. He managed to stagger a short distance before collapsing and being discovered by his wife.
He has survived the attack despite his lung being punctured and also sustaining knife wounds to his chest, stomach, bowel and liver.
Detective Constable Roxanne Dawe of Barking and Dagenham CID said: "This was an incredibly violent attack on a married father-of-two who was just walking home after a night out as he did every Friday.
"He had not had an argument or a dispute with anyone that night and we can find no motive at all for what happened. Nothing was stolen from him.
"An innocent man very nearly lost his life and this incident is being treated as attempted murder, so if you know anything at all, please contact us."
The suspect, who ran from the scene towards Denham Way, is described as aged 20-30 and was wearing a dark hooded top and light trousers.
