Barking shooting: Man fighting for life after being shot in broad daylight in east London

A man is fighting for his life after he was shot in broad daylight in east London.

Police were called to Wilmington Gardens, Barking, at 2.15pm on Thursday following reports a gun had been fired.

Armed officers descended on the scene and found two men, aged in their 20s, had suffered injuries.

Both were rushed to hospital. One is in a "critical condition" after he suffered gunshot wounds, police said.

The other has different injuries but his condition is not thought to be life-threatening. Police have not confirmed what injuries he suffered.

A Met Police spokesman added: "At this very early stage there have been no arrests.

"An extensive crime scene is in place as officers work to fully establish what happened."
