The operators of Bargeddie’s cinema have reassured customers that it will be remaining open, in the wake of high-profile closures of other screens.
Showcase, who run the movie venue at the leisure park beside the A8, say they are “committed to keeping our UK cinemas open”.
It follows this week’s announcement by Cineworld that it will close all of its UK cinemas until next year with the loss of thousands of jobs, while a quarter of Odeon’s cinemas will now open at weekends only.
Showcase UK general manager Mark Barlow said: “We are committed to keeping our cinemas open; we’re passionate about offering guests the best environment to watch a film.

“We have introduced a number of new safety measures, from socially-distanced seating and staggered film times to sanitising stations throughout and every seat being sprayed after every show with a non-chemical anti-viral spray – all to help keep our guests and employees as safe as possible.
“Seeing a film on the big screen is an immersive experience like no other; film has the power to transport and offers an escape from the outside world, something we all could do with at the moment.”
The Bargeddie cinema reopened in late July after a four-month closure during the coronavirus lockdown.
Further protection measures include self-scan entry points to use with tickets booked online, installation of air-purifying systems, contactless payment for refreshments and protective screens around each till.
