For those watching and waiting for the best deals, it can seem counterproductive to walk by without taking full advantage when they pop up, but as one shopper found out, it might be the best way to safeguard your money.
Demi Donnelly, a 25-year-old YouTuber from Newcastle has said that she needed to set herself some ground rules after a B&M shopping 'addiction'.
She describes going into a store and coming out with sale items she didn't need or have space for and spending £120 more than she had budgeted for.
Speaking to money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk she said that she knows other shoppers have the same problem with temptation so she has shares her tip for balancing a budget and a bargain.

Demi said: "The other day I went to Asda - all I needed was laundry detergent and a few bits and bobs.
"What I needed should have cost around £30, but I left with £150 worth of purchases! I realised I need to stop myself from spending too much so during this trip to B&M I asked myself some questions which helped me to reduce how much I bought."
These are the questions she asks herself before parting with cash or cards.
Do I need this?
Demi suggests thinking about other products you have at home and whether they will do the job of the sale item you want to buy.
Do I have storage for this?
This is key for those with limited closets, busy countertops and jam-packed cleaning cupboards.
Is it a gimmick?
Demi said that she was tempted to buy a product marketed at keeping bins smelling nice but she reminded herself that she already has a trick that works fine.
Is it value for money?
She said: "The fourth question is - will what you’re buying be value for money? My go-to store for toilet roll is B&M due to the bargain prices. I got an 18 pack of loo roll for £3.49 which will do me nicely."
Have you used up the last product?
Demi said that no matter how much you want to try a new product, its key to limit spending by using up what you have first.
Can you get a cheaper alternative?
If you find something you like Demi suggests taking some time to have a look in other stores or online to find identical products.
Will it last?
Demi said: "I got another dog bed because my two pups have destroyed a few lately but I didn’t want to spend too much, so I got one at B&M for £14 which they have used before and it lasted a fair while.
"I wouldn’t want to waste money if I end up replacing it before too long anyway! Therefore my seventh question applies - will it last?"
Will it make life easier?
"Another useful question to ask is my eighth one - will it make life easier?
"For example, I picked up some glass window cleaning wipes for my glass coffee table because, while my cleaning spray does do a good job, my table gets dirty pretty much every day and I would prefer to give them a quick wipe down instead of getting the spray out each time."
Will I actually use it?
Demi said this rule applies to food products best because unlike homeware or cleaning items they are likely to have a fast approaching use-by date so the rule is to only buy food that you will eat within that time.
