Bargain Hunt viewers complain as show replaced with tribute to Prince Philip

Heartless Bargain Hunt viewers were left upset this afternoon after the BBC replaced the popular show with a programme dedicated to Prince Philip.

The Royal Family announced in a statement that the Queen's husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, had passed away this morning at Windsor Castle.

It read: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."

A BBC News special paying tribute to the Queen's husband replaced Bargain Hunt on the TV schedule, leaving viewers at home furious, reports the Daily Star.

Taking to Twitter, one unhappy fan moaned: "I have nothing against Prince Philip but did the BBC really need to cancel Bargain Hunt?"

Another added: "It’s on every bloody channel!!! Where’s Bargain Hunt gone?"

A third person posted: "Uh oh. Just realised Bargain Hunt was cancelled to make way for the tributes to Prince Philip. My mum is gonna be furious."

While a fourth social media user said: "The is b****y ridiculous. No bargain Hunt?"

"OK, we get it, Prince Philip has died, but where is Bargain Hunt?"

The news of his death was confirmed in a statement from Buckingham Palace and was followed by tributes from across the country and the world.

The statement said: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

"Further announcements will made in due course.

"The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss."
