Some sweet news for Christmas pudding fans on a budget – a cheap creation from Iceland tastes better than a dearer one at Harvey Nichols.
In a blind taste test, the £4 dessert from the frozen food giant beat a £6.50 version on offer at its upmarket rival.
Iceland’s Luxury 12-Month Matured Christmas Pudding was awarded 79 out of 100, whereas Harvey Nics’ Classic Christmas Pudding got 77.
The top spot was shared with a more expensive 24-Month Matured Christmas Pudding for £11.99 from Lidl.
The news was no better for the department store on the booze front, with Morrisons own-brand £10 Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore beating Harvey Nichols’ Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore at £16.
When it came to talking turkey, M&S scored 84 for its 1.2kg crown with pork, sage and onion stuffing, costing £14.40.
Judges from Good Housekeeping magazine taste tested 383 products.
