It's been reported that Barclays is to axe 63 more branches in the first three months of 2021.
The bank closures come even though it admits some of those premises being closed have seen rising customer numbers.
Bank documents reveal numbers have increased in the past two years at its branch in Moreton, Merseyside – among those being axed.
The firm also admits 177 residents only bank in-branch.
They will now have to travel four miles to use another branch, reports MirrorOnline.
Access to Banking Standard rules state banks must consider the impact of closures on residents.
Yet despite leaving many areas without a single branch, no banking firm has reversed a closure in three years, says consumer group Which?
Its previous research found Barclays has closed, or had plans to shut, 540 branches since 2015, including 151 since January 2019.
Gareth Shaw, head of money at Which?, said: “Communities are struggling without access to cash and vital bank services.”
Barclays said: “With more customers choosing to bank in different ways, we are carefully reducing the number of under-used branches we have.”
