A branch of Barclays Bank in Derby which is due to shut next month has been put up for sale with an asking price of offers over £1 million.
Back in June, commercial property agents Salloway was appointed to market the Barclays Business Centre, in Sir Frank Whittle Road, for rent.
However, it has now been instructed to offer the property, which for many years has been serving both corporate clients and the public, for sale as well to rent.
Barclays has previously announced that the branch will close on Friday, September 13, because of a sharp fall in over-the-counter transactions over the past two years.
The bank said that 84% of branch customers now use other ways to do their banking, such as online and by telephone.
It added that in the past year, 50% of customers have been using neighbouring branches and that only 60 customers use the Sir Frank Whittle Road branch exclusively.
In the particulars for the branch, Salloway describes the property as “prominent modern office premises with excellent parking”.
They state: “Modern self-contained office building providing a net internal area of approximately 10,400 sq ft with circa 50 on-site parking spaces.
