Barclays has announced radical changes it claims will lead to the loss of hundreds of jobs.
The banking giant said on Wednesday that workers from across a number of sites are being brought together, while as previously announced, a site in Leeds is closing following the landlord’s decision to sell it for residential development.
A statement said: “In order to drive collaboration, Barclays is moving teams closer together at our UK sites in Glasgow, Greater Manchester and Northampton, where we are investing in new campuses and office space.
“This will enable us to innovate at pace for the customers and clients we serve. We will do everything we can to support colleagues impacted by the changes announced today, working closely with Unite.”
It's the latest banking giant to announce big job losses.
In February, HSBC announced it was cutting 35,000 jobs globally as part of a move to cut costs by £3.5bn.
And last month Unite the union warned that Lloyds Banking Group was to cut 780 full-time branch jobs.
