Barcelona youngster Mika Marmol wanted by Celtic, according to Spanish media

Celtic are interested in Barcelona's young defender Mika Marmol, according to reports emanating from Spain today.

The Hoops are still without a permanent manager following Neil Lennon 's departure on February 24, with ex-Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe thought to be close to succeeding the Northern Irishman.

Aside from that, Celtic 's recruitment guru Nick Hammond also left the Premiership club in March, but it seems someone within the Glasgow club is still pulling the strings in regards to transfers.

According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Celtic, Getafe and Mallorca are all keen on signing Marmol, who currently turns out for Barca's B-team.

The 18-year-old can play either centre-back or left-back, and has been capped by Spain at Under-20 level after impressing for the Nou Camp club's reserve side.

With the future of Kristoffer Ajer up in the air, and full-backs Diego Laxalt and Jonjoe Kenny heading back to parent clubs after underwhelming loan spells, Celtic could definitely do with some defensive reinforcements this summer.
