Barcelona XI vs Sevilla: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, latest injuries for LaLiga clash

Barcelona will be without Frenkie de Jong and Sergi Roberto for Friday night’s trip to Sevilla in LaLiga.

De Jong has a calf injury and coach Quique Setien said on Thursday that playing the 23-year-old could make the problem worse.

“Frenkie had some discomfort and it hasn’t gone away,” he said. “Given the possible risk, we prefer him to rest. I prefer to lose him for one game than for four.”

Roberto, meanwhile, is out with a rib fracture and Setien said: “Let’s see how he evolves. We don’t know if he will be out for one game or two.”

The Barca coach said he would speak to striker Luis Suarez to see whether the Uruguayan would start at the Sanchez Pizjuan, but admitted the 33-year-old is still not ready to play 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, Ansu Fati has trained normally after coming off with a minor problem in the second half against Leganes on Sunday.

Gerard Pique is also fine after he was hurt in a strong challenge in that match. Jordi Alba will return at left-back after suspension, but Samuel Umtiti is banned.
