Barcelona XI vs Mallorca: Confirmed team news and lineups as Lionel Messi starts

Barcelona head coach Quique Setien has named striker Luis Suarez on the bench for the Catalans' LaLiga return at Mallorca this evening

Suarez underwent surgery in January after Barca’s 3-2 defeat to Atletico in the Spanish Supercopa, which was Ermesto Valverde's final game in charge, and the Uruguayan was ruled out for four months.

But with LaLiga interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, the 33-year-old is fit again and was last weekend given the green light by club doctors to return to action.

Captain Lionel Messi has overcome a minor knock which saw him miss two sessions last week, and starts in attack with Martin Braithwaite and Antoine Griezmann.

French defender Clement Lenglet is suspended, so Ronald Araujo starts at the back alongside Gerard Pique.

Right-back Nelson Semedo missed Barcelona’s training session on Thursday following a breach of LaLiga’s Covid-19 protocol by meeting up with a group of over 20 people earlier in the week, so Sergi Roberto starts at right-back.

Barcelona XI: ter Stegen, Roberto, Pique, Araujo, Jordi Alba, Busquets, De Jong, Vidal, Messi, Braithwaite, Griezmann
